March 2000 NEWSLETTER

WE WISH TO THANK EACH OF YOU WHO HELPED US WITH OUR FINANCIAL NEEDS LAST DECEMBER...   WE STILL NEED AN  INCREASE IN MONTHLY GIVING TO MEET OUR BUDGET.

Mr. Gerald Martineu, President of our Haitian Board of Directors, passed away on February 13, 2000.  We felt a great loss in his passing.  His leadership helped guide the school for many years.  We know that he is in Heaven now with the Lord.

We had a board meeting on February 25, 2000 and invited Mr. Hans Peter Hackenbruch, who is the Consul General for the country of Austria, to join the board of directors and then elected him President of the Board.  He has helped the center many times in the past by donating equipment and supplies and we consider him to be a true friend.

We have the Haitian Flag raised in the morning along with hymns, prayers, and etc. by the Professors leading the program.  The students stand together by class and sing using sign language both the Haitian National Anthem and hymns chosen by the leader.  They close with a prayer and the students are dismissed to go to their classes.

The students work hard in their classes to prepare for their trimester exams which will be held soon.  We hope to have some students in our upper class to take the Government Primary Examination at the end of this school year.  We have arranged for nine students to sit for this primary examination. We have also submitted the necessary paperwork to the Haitian Department of Education for recognition
